Men's Basketball Third in Final NCAA III Attendance Standings
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
A three-day photo gallery of the NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field
Championships has been posted on the Calvin web site at:

Sports Report, it was noted that the women's track and field team posted
All-America honors in the 4x400 meter relay for the ninth straight year when in
fact, it had done so for the eighth time in the last nine years. Calvin's 4x100
meter relay team also grabbed an All-America berth with an eighth place finish
last Saturday, marking the fifth All-America berth for Calvin in the event over
the last six years.

MEN'S BASKETBALL- Calvin finishes third in NCAA III men's basketball
attendance
Calvin College is once again among the NCAA III leaders in men's basketball
attendance. Calvin finished third in this year's standings with an average of
2,089 fans. It marks the fourth straight year that Calvin has finished third in
the NCAA III men's basketball attendance race.
MIAA rival Hope repeated as the NCAA III attendance champion in men's
basketball for the third straight year as it averaged 2,928 fans a game during
the 2005-2006 season. Hope's attendance crown is its eighth. Finishing in
second place for the fourth straight year is Illinois Wesleyan with an average
of 2,470 fans a game.
Combined, Calvin and Hope have now combined to win the last eight NCAA III
attendance crowns as Hope also won in 1999 while Calvin won in 2000, 2001 and
in 2002.
Calvin's 2005-2006 average was strengthened by sell-out crowds of 4,500 fans
on February 8 and February 26, against Hope at the Calvin Fieldhouse. Overall,
Calvin drew 2, 952 fans over 14 home dates. Calvin topped 2,000 fans in five of
its 14 home dates.
Calvin and Hope helped the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association to
top all Division III conferences for the 15th straight year with an average of
1,234 fans a game - an increase of 119 fans per game from the year before. The
College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin finished second with an average of
866 fans a game.
Calvin holds the NCAA III single-season record with an average of 4,018 fans
established during the 1992-93 season. Calvin also holds the NCAA III single
game attendance record with 11,442 fans for its January 29, 1997 game against
Hope at the VanAndel Arena. Calvin has captured 13 overall NCAA III attendance
crowns including 12 in the last 20 years.
