CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR JUNE 30, 2005

DETERS DOES NOT DISAPPOINT DESPITE DEFEAT

YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Jim Deters did not disappoint despite suffering a pitching
defeat in his second professional start. Deters suffered the pitching loss
Wednesday night as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers dropped a 5-2 decision to the
Batavia Muckdogs.

The Kalamazoo Christian High School graduate went the first five innings for
the Scrappers on Wednesday night and did not allow an earned run. Deters
allowed two hits in the top of the first inning and an error then contributed
to a pair of unearned runs.

The 6-4 righthander then bore down and did not allow a hit over the next four
inning as his final pitching line included five innings of work, just four hits
allowed, two strikeouts and one walk and no earned runs. Deters would depart
after five innings and the Muckdogs would add another run in the sixth and hold
on for the win.

In 8.1 innings of work, Deters has not allowed an earned run for the Scrappers
(4-5), has given up just four hits, has struck out four and walked just two.
