WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO HOST SECTIONAL -- MEN'S BASKETBALL HEADED TO ALBION

GRAND RAPIDS -- A pair of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools
will play host to "Sweet 16" sectional rounds in men's and women's basketball
this coming weekend.

Calvin will play host to a four-team women's sectional on Fridy and Saturday
(March 11 and 12) that will also include teams from Wisconsin-Stout, Millikin
and Albion.

The sectional will open Friday night at 5:30 p.m. when Millikin (25-2) faces
Wisconsin-Stout (24-6). Calvin (24-4) will then face Albion (25-4) at 7:30
p.m. The Calvin-Albion meeting will be the fourth of the year between the two
MIAA foes including the first ever in NCAA III Tournament play. It will also
mark the first-ever meeting between two MIAA opponents in men's or women's
sectional round play. Calvin has won its three prior meetings with Albion this
year including a 60-47 win at Albion the MIAA Tournament Championship game
February 26.

Friday's winners will then meet in a national quarterfinal game Saturday night
at 7:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to the NCAA III Final Four the following
week in Norfolk, Virginia.

Ticket information for the women's sectional tournament at Calvin will be
announced later on Monday.

The 22nd-ranked Calvin women's basketball team advanced to the sectional round
of play with a 72-63 second round win at 12th-ranked DePauw University this
past Saturday. Calvin is making its third trip to the "Sweet 16" round of the
NCAA III Tournament.

On the men's side, Albion will host a four-team sectional this Friday and
Saturday at its Kresge Gymnasium. The sectional field that will also include
Calvin, Mississippi College and John Carroll.

The sectional will open Friday night with Calvin (24-6) facing Mississippi
College (24-4) in the first sectional semifinal game of the evening. The game
will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools. John Carroll (24-6)
will then face Albion (25-3) in the second sectional semifinal Friday night
with Friday's winners set to face each other in a national quarterfinal game
Saturday night The winner of Saturday night's national quarterfinal game will
then advance to the NCAA III Final Four the following weekend in Salem,
Virginia.

Ticket information and game times for the men's sectional tournament at Albion
will be announced later on Monday.

The 14th-ranked Calvin men's basketball team advanced to the sectional round of
play with a 71-59 second round win at 20th-ranked Aurora University this past
Saturday. Calvin is making its sixth appearance in the "Sweet 16" round of the
NCAA III Tournament.
