CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR DECEMBER 13, 2004

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

For the second time in her collegiate career, Calvin sophomore Lisa Winkle has
been named MIAA Player of the Week in women's basketball.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of South Christian High School, Winkle
scored 38 points last week in leading Calvin to conference victories over Alma
and Adrian.

Winkle scored 12 points in a 68-45 win over Alma last Wednesday night and
followed with a season-high 26 points in an 76-62 victory at Adrian. In the
win at Adrian, Winkle was 11 of 12 from the floor.

Over the course of the week, Winkle connected on 16 of 18 field goal attempts
and was credited with eight rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and one
steal.

She is currently averaging 17.4 points a game which ranks second in the MIAA in
non-conference games. She has also connected on a league-best 63.4 percent of
her field goal attempts and is averaging 6.8 rebounds and 1.38
blocked-shots-per-game.

The Calvin women's basketball team is currently 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the
MIAA. The Knights return to action on December 30 when they face the Lions of
Mt. St. Joseph College (OH) in a first round game of the Palm Beach Atlantic
Holiday Tournament. The Calvin-Mt. St. Joseph contest is scheduled to begin at
1:00 p.m. (EST).

EDITORS NOTE ON MUSKEGON SPORTS HALL OF FAME FACTS

In Saturday's Calvin Sports Report, it was noted that Dave VerMerris is the
second Calvin graduate to be inducted into the Muskegon Sports Hall of Fame
along with 1966 Calvin graduate Ed Douma. In fact, VerMerris is the third
Calvin graduate to be inducted into the Muskegon Sports Hall of Fame as 1950
graduate Elmer Walcott has also been inducted and was the first Calvin graduate
to be so honored.

A former standout basketball player at Calvin, Walcott went on to a
distinguished coaching career at Western Michigan Christian High School -- most
notably as boy's and later girl's basketball coach.
