CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR DECEMBER 10, 2004
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

In a conference game at Adrian, the Knights defeated Adrian Bulldogs 78-62,
making Calvin 6-2 on the season, and 2-1 in conference play.
Calvin scored the first point of the game on a jumper by sophomore Lisa Winkle
(South Christian). While Adrian would answer with a jumper and two made free
throws, that 4-2 lead would be the only lead Adrian would hold in the game.
The Knights steadily pulled away, and with a shot by freshman Charis Larson
(Grand Rapids Christian) making the score 31-13, Calvin led by 18 with 6:06
left on the clock.
While the Knights would hold this lead for the rest of the game, Adrian battled
back at the end of the first half, going on a 7-0 run to end the half only 8
points down, 35-27.
Calvin quickly closed that gap however, leading by 20 with 8:59 left in the
game. Adrian continued to battle, but Calvin again led by 20 with 2:55 left.
Calvin closed out the game with a 16 point lead.
High scorers for Calvin were Lisa Winkle with 26 and senior Kristen McDonald
(West Catholic) with 19. For Adrian, senior Amanda Rainsberger scored 12 and
freshman Rita Carter contributed 8.
The Knights now have a 20-day break, and will return to action on Dec. 30 at
West Palm Beach Atlantic in Florida. The net home game is January 4, against
Tri-State.
