Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving
The Calvin men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host the MIAA
Championships Thursday, Friday and Saturday at East Grand Rapids High School.
It marks the first time since 1991 that Calvin has hosted the league meet.
Prelims each day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the finals each night scheduled
to begin at 6:00 p.m..
In the men's competition, Calvin has two individuals seeking to defend MIAA
titles as junior Peter Boumgarden (Naperville, IL) is the two-time defending
champion in the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Senior Brad White (Traverse
City) is the defending champion in the 100 freestyle. Calvin's 800 freestyle
relay team has also captured the league championship the last three years.
In the women's competition, senior Sara TerHaar (Bradenton, FL) is the
defending champion on the three-meter diving board. Sophomore Abby Johnson
(Grand Haven HS) is the defending champion in the 200 butterfly, 200 IM and 400
IM. Calvin's 200 and 400 freestyle relays are also defending MIAA champions.
In fact, Calvin's 400 freestyle relay team has captured the last five MIAA
titles while its 200 freestyle relay team has captured the last four league
crowns.
