MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The latest set of NCAA III Cross Country polls have been released and although
the Calvin men's cross country team remains ranked second, the Knights have
gained some ground in the minds of the national voters.
A week ago, the Knights received just one first place vote. In this week's
poll, the Knights received three first place votes but remain second behind
defending national champion Wisconsin-Oshkosh which received five first place
votes in this week's poll. This past Saturday, the Calvin men's cross
country team captured its 17th straight MIAA title with a perfect score of 15
points at the MIAA Championships. Calvin swept the top six spots including 11
of the top 13 in posting the fourth perfect score in MIAA men's cross country
history.
In the women's poll, Calvin dropped one spot as the Knights are ranked
seventh after having been ranked sixth the past three weeks. The Knights
captured their 16th consecutive MIAA title this past Saturday at the league
meet with a team score of 28 points. The streak of 16 MIAA titles is the
longest in MIAA women's athletic history.
Both Calvin cross country teams return to action on November 15 when they
compete at the Great Lakes Regionals hosted by Hanover College (IN).
