    CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2003

    WOMEN'S GOLF

    ALLENDALE - Calvin concluded play Tuesday afternoon at the two-day Laker Fall
    Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University at The Meadows Golf Club.
    Calvin finished the tournament with a two-day total of 771 strokes to finish
    15th in a field of 16 teams. Calvin opened the tournament with a team score of
    384 Monday and came back with a score of 387 on Tuesday.

    Host Grand Valley took first place with a two-day team score of 625.

    Calvin's top individual finishers were junior Dawn Svenkeson (Scandia, MN)
    and sophomore Annie Huizenga (Unity Christian HS) who carded two-day totals of
    183. Sophomore Margaret Tassaro (Carnegie, PA) was next with a two-day score
    of 203 while sophomore Anne Prins (Unity Christian HS) came in at 209.
    Rounding out Calvin's finishers were freshman Abby Stemler (Elk River, MN)
    with a score of 215 and sophomore Linnea Vincent (Grand Rapids Christian HS)
    with a score of 228.

    Melissa Sneller of Grand Valley was the tournament medalist with a two-day
    score of 151.

    Calvin returns to action on September 10 when it competes against Aquinas at
    the Thornapple Golf Club at 2:00 p.m.

    VOLLEYBALL

    For the first time in her career, Calvin junior middle-hitter Kara Kuipers has
    been named MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week. A native of Hudsonville and a
    graduate of Unity Christian High School, Kuipers helped lead Calvin to the
    championship of the Kalamazoo College Hornet Invitational as the Knights went
    4-0 including a four-game win over host Kalamazoo in the championship match.

    Over the course of the weekend, Kuipers totaled 88 points behind 66 kills, 15
    digs and 18 blocks. She also posted a hitting percentage of .466 and chipped
    in with four service aces.

    Calvin opens its MIAA campaign Wednesday night at home against rival Hope at
    6:30 p.m.

    WEDNESDAY CALVIN SPORTING EVENTS SET FOR REAL AUDIO

    A pair of Wednesday Calvin sporting events are set for RealAudio broadcasts.
    At 4:00 p.m. a RealAudio broadcast of the Calvin-Aquinas men's soccer game
    will be aired by the Calvin sports information department. At 6:30 p.m., the
    women's volleyball match will be also be streamed via RealAudio over the web.
     The original start time of the match was listed for 7:00 p.m. but the match
    will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night at the Calvin Fieldhouse.
