graduate from Calvin May 18 with a major in Spanish. He will attend medical

His desire to seek a career in medical missions was cultivated on a 2001
January Calvin Interim term trip to Shell, Ecuador, entitled "Medical Missons."
While in the South American country, Knoester worked at the Hospital Vozandes
Oriente, sorting medical supplies, pouring concrete for new hospital facilities
and shadowing hospital doctors. During the term, Knoester spent two weeks
living in the Ecuador jungle with two separate tribes of people.
Knoester carries a 3.70 cumulative grade point average and compiled a 3.75

Honor Roll.
This past fall, Knoester, served as a captain on the Calvin men's soccer team
that finished 11-6-2 overall and in third place in the MIAA with an 8-4-0
conference mark. A four-year starter at a defensive marking back position,
Knoester was selected to the All-MIAA 2nd team this year. He was also named to
the All-MIAA 1st team in 2000 and in 1999. During the 1999 season, Knoester
helped lead Calvin to a share of its first MIAA title since 1999 as the Knights
finished 16-3-1 overall and tied for the MIAA championship with Alma at 11-2-1
in the league.
While a student at Calvin, Knoester has been active in campus and community
leadership. He has served as a Resident Care Aid at Raybrook Manor Retirement
Home and as a volunteer on the Alzheimer Unit at Porter Hills Presbyterian
Village. At Calvin, he helped organize Calvin's first AMSA (American Medical
Student Association) Chapter as a volunteer coordinator. The AMSA program is a
nation wide organization for pre-med and medical students that offers mentoring
and direction for student who are pursuing or considering pursuing a career in
the medical field.
