Choose from many different pathways within the health sciences:
Majors and fields
It’s easy to switch between health science majors—even two or three years into your university experience—because they all share the same foundational coursework. Learn more about those foundational health science courses.
- Pre-Occupational Therapy
- Pre-Physical Therapy
- Pre-Veterinary Medicine
You can choose any major and complete a pre-professional program. If your plans change, you can shift to a health science major or a different program.
Are Calvin health science graduates successful?
What if I don’t know which program is right for me?
We'll help you match your passion with your career goals.
When you declare your interest in the health sciences, you’ll begin working toward your goal right away. But you'll also take foundational courses that many health science pathways share in common. That gives you flexibility as you consider your options.
One of your first courses, Introduction to Health Sciences, walks you through each of the career options in healthcare. You’ll learn what professions you can pursue, and what academic path will bring you there.
Each step of the way, you’ll be accompanied by expert faculty who know the healthcare field well, and who are committed to helping you identify and achieve your goals.
Can I switch majors or programs after I start?
Plans can change. Your interests might shift. We understand! That’s why your courses and professor will walk you through your options from the very beginning of your time at Calvin. If you decide to switch majors or programs after that, we’ll work with you to make the transition as smooth as possible. This guide can help you shift into a health science major with a minimum of difficulty or additional coursework.
Calvin's health sciences faculty know what you need to thrive in grad school, med school, or in a career. Whether you stick with your original program or change goals partway through, you’ll be guided by faculty who know you and who want you to succeed!
