      • Dr. Adejoke Ayoola was awarded the prestigious Mid-West Nursing Research Society (MNRS) Women's Health and Childbearing Research Interest Group mid-career investigator award in Kansas City, MO.

    • Cora Bruxvoort
      • Cora Bruxvoort, senior nursing student, won 2nd place for her poster titled “Low Income Women’s Participation in Prenatal Care” at the Mid-West Nursing Research Society (MNRS) meeting in Kansas City, MO. Cora was competing against all BSN students in the Mid-West region! Dr. Adejoke Ayoola was her faculty mentor on the project.

    • Jacob VanHorssen
      • Jacob VanHorssen, junior nursing student, won one of three scholarships in the state of Michigan to attend the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Student Policy Summit in Washington DC. This student summit participants were introduced to a variety of aspects of health care policy and prepared to join the Michigan nursing deans/chairs in lobbying on Capitol Hill. Jacob, and his group of 18 students (undergraduate and graduate nursing students) from across the state of Michigan, attended and actively participated in this lobbying session at the office of Senators Stabenow and Peters. Jacob also took the initiative to meet with senators from his home state of South Dakota.

      • Erica Heetderks, Christa Houskamp, and Anna VanWolde presented a poster on Wednesday evening at the Sigma Theta Tau Kappa Epsilon at Large Chapter Spring Research Event. The poster was from the Women Supporting Women project and titled “Factors Impacting Attrition of Vulnerable Women from Longitudinal Intervention Studies”.
