The Department of English at Calvin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment in Linguistics. Pending final administrative approval, the appointment will begin August 2018.
About the position
The English Department seeks a candidate with a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a concentration in ESL, and who demonstrates a capacity to contribute to a growing linguistics major. Expertise in sociolinguistics, English grammar, and/ or child language acquisition are desirable additional specializations. A candidate should have outstanding promise as a classroom teacher, a record of an active program of scholarship, and a dedication to the integration of Christian faith and the study and teaching of linguistics.

Faculty responsibilities and resources
Faculty members typically teach three courses in each of the fall and spring semesters, as well as a January interim course. They are expected to pursue an active scholarship agenda, to advise undergraduate students, and to serve on college and departmental committees.
