The department of English at Calvin University invites applications for a one-year affiliate position in linguistics. Pending final administrative approval, the appointment will begin August 2019.
About the position
The English department seeks a candidate with a Ph.D. or A.B.D. in linguistics with a concentration in ESL and applied linguistics; expertise in sociolinguistics, English grammar, and/ or child language acquisition are desirable additional specializations. A candidate should show excellence as a classroom teacher, evidence of an active program of scholarship, and a dedication to the integration of Christian faith and the study and teaching of linguistics.

Faculty responsibilities and resources
Affiliate faculty members typically teach three courses in each of the fall and spring semesters, as well as a January interim course. They are encouraged to pursue an active scholarship agenda and to serve on university and departmental committees.
