Program Requirements & Opportunities

  • Overview

Special Education Studies is the study of disability, special education, and supports provided to individuals with identified disabilities, including disability theory, historical views, principles, systems, and practices of support. Students earning this minor will become knowledgeable about disability, special education practices, and policies designed to support individuals with disabilities, while not earning certification as a professional educator.

(EDUC 302-EDUC 303 is a prerequisite for many 300-level EDUC courses. This prerequisite will be waived for students in the Special Education Studies program.)
