Degree Overview

What makes an organization tick? How do you unite a team behind a common vision? Why are some people passive in their work and others passionate?

When you study organizational communication at Calvin, you’ll learn from communication faculty who are visionaries in the field of organizational communication. They’ve spent years investigating organizational cultures, and they’ll show you how to do the same. In class, you’ll unpack theories in communication ethics, conflict negotiation, and written communication.

Then, put that good thinking to work. Hands-on class projects, seminar presentations, and internships will empower you to become an effective leader. Analyze the workplace dynamics of nonprofit or for-profit organizations. Research new ideas and present your findings. Practice innovation through an internship with a marketing firm, nonprofit, church, or Fortune 500 company.

With this degree, you’ll be able to step into any organization and know how to take it to the next level.
