Join us for another exciting membership event to Detroit! We’ll depart Prince Conference Center parking lot at 8:45 a.m. (boarding starts at 8:30 a.m.) We’ll arrive at Motown Museum at about 11:15 a.m. and will tour the Motown Museum -- home to an extensive array of Motown artifacts, photographs and other memorabilia. (Note: We’ll be scheduled in two groups, one at 11:30 and one at noon) Each group will receive a one-hour tour during which you’ll be inspired by and celebrate the true legacy and sound of Motown. Our special guest Glenn Bulthuis will be along to answer questions!

Union Street Restaurant for Lunch, Meal Choices include:


• Regular – Buttermilk fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans
• Vegetarian – Mac and cheese, green beans, sweet potato
• Gluten Free – Citrus grilled chicken, sweet potato, green beans
• Vegan Meal - upon request

All meals will include a garden salad, water, iced tea and coffee and dessert.


After lunch we’ll hop on the bus for our next destination, the Charles H. Wright African American museum at Wayne State University. The museum holds the world's largest permanent exhibit on African-American culture. We’ll receive a one-hour guided tour of the museum, including the exhibit “And Still We Rise” which offers a comprehensive view at the look of the history of African-American resilience, from the tragedy of the Middle Passage to the heroism of the Civil Rights Movement and beyond.


At 4:30 p.m. we’ll depart the museum for a short drive to the Whole Foods Store where you are welcome to pick up a snack or “to go” dinner at your own expense. We’ll depart Whole Foods at 5:00 p.m. and plan to arrive back at the Prince Conference Center at 7:30 p.m.

South Bend Mansion and Museum Tour

7:30 am- 8:00 pm

We leave Calvin at 7:30am from the Prince Conference Center. After one rest stop enroute, our day begins with two hours at the South Bend History Museum and the Studebaker Museum. Following the tours, we enjoy lunch at the historic Tippecanoe Place, the original 1889 home of Clement Studebaker. Our afternoon kicks off with the most famous house in South Bend, the Oliver Mansion, with our day concluding with sweet treats and tour of the South Bend Chocolate Factory. 

Member event refund policy

For half-day events: no refund for cancellations.

For all other events: 50% refund will be issued for a cancellation made 14 days or more before event; no refund will be issued for a cancellation made less than two weeks before event.

If a trip is full and there is a waitlist, there will be a full refund (minus administrative fee) for a cancellation, provided that the reserved seat is taken by a paying guest from the waitlist.
