"After many years as a Harvard physics professor, I am still grateful for my Calvin College physics education. The courses were rigorous and taught conscientiously. I designed and built an apparatus to measure the densities of reactive molten metals, made the challenging measurements, and analyzed the results for a scientific publication. Professors like John Van Zytveld, my superb lab mentor, Vern Ehlers (later a US congressman), and others still are role models. I never expected to teach, research and chair the department of one of the world's leading universities, lead international teams of scientists, or to be a member of the National Academy of Science. My Calvin education launched me well. I recommend Calvin to students who are seriously interested in science, especially if they (like me) are also interested in exploring the implications of their Christian faith on the science that they enjoy."
