A Naturalist Intrinsic Value-based Theodicy

"Almost all prominent contemporary approaches to the problem of evil focus on the freedom of human creatures, but there are many reasons to think that this approach will not succeed.  Using a framework developed in my recent book, On the Intrinsic Value of Everything (Continuum Press, 2012), I present an intrinsic value based theodicy designed to provide a justifying reason for God to create our world.  This theodicy is consonant with biblical themes regarding creation, but is also naturalistic in a broad sense, since it does not appeal to libertarian freedom, non-physical souls, miraculous intervention, or the survival of death."
