In Calvin's School of Business, we are compelled by a larger story at work in God’s plan for the world. Ultimately, our marketing plans, accounting ledgers, and start-up designs serve as channels to improve life and create a sense of purpose for people both in our communities and around the world. 

Because we take seriously God's call to influence the world, every course and real-world learning opportunity is designed to challenge you to pursue excellence in business. When you graduate, you will be equipped with the right combination of knowledge, skills, and heart to lead in your area of interest.

Our programs

We offer six different business majors. Here, you can study human resource management; finance; financial planning; marketing (professional selling); marketing (analytics and research); or marketing (marketing management), operations and supply chain management. You may also pursue a major in accounting, and an opportunity to continue your studies in our Master of Accounting program or Master of Business Administration.

Our faculty

Calvin business professors are committed Christians who have both applied experience in the business world and academic and professional credentials. As such, they are excellent teachers and advisors when it comes to planning your career in business. Our professors have expertise in many areas, including small business management, corporate accounting, marketing research, international business, and non-profit management.

Real-world learning

In business and accounting at Calvin, you’ll prepare for the workplace by tackling real-world business problems in courses, internships, activities, and more.

Collaboration in courses

Courses include projects to help real businesses identify and solve business challenges. You will collaborate with other business students in group activities and team projects to help you develop skills in teamwork, leadership, and public speaking.

Business activities and organizations

Student groups can help you find your passion and serve God with your gifts. Organizations include Calvin Startup Garage, HR Club, Knight Investment Management, Marketing Club, Nexus, and Women's Business Network. Activities include:

Investing $1.3 million of real money in stocks and bonds
Developing and presenting business plans for area businesses
Visiting financial institutions in Chicago
Hearing from local business executives about their experiences at panels and networking events

Networking and careers

Networking events with the business community will help you make contacts, develop skills, and discover where God is calling you. Calvin’s Career Center can also help hone your resume, practice interview skills, and make contacts for internships and job opportunities.
